Blogs, Tags and More: Making Sense (and Use) of New Internet Technologies

Getting Started

In the sections that follow (also linked on the left), you will learn about and explore new internet technologies that are commonly called "web 2.0" or "read/write" internet tools. These are tools and services that allow the web to become an interactive environment where users both explore and contribute to content on the web.

As we learn about and experiment with blogs, tags, wikis, feeds, podcasts and more, we will stay focused on the educational use of these tools - that is, if and how these tools might enhance the educational process as teachers prepare and present lessons and students interact with others in the classroom and around the world. Do these tools "level the playing field" for people with disabilities and challenging learning circumstances or do they create new disparities? What potential problems or abuses might arise as these tools are brought into educational activities? How can teachers and students address these challenges?

Activity: Please visit our TRLD 2007 Wiki to discuss the questions above, add your perspectives, and share relevant resources
