Unit Two Lesson 1:

This unit will focus on the origins of Islam in the Arabian peninsula and the spread of Islamic civilizations.

Today's lesson will focus on the origins of Islam as both a religious institution and as a political entity. We wil be watching the video Empire of Faith. This chronicles the life of Mohammed. Many historians make statements about the relevance of key events in the life of Mohammed. As we watch the film, please note the significance of these key events.
