Special Considerations for School Web Sites
As a school, it’s critical to consider:
- Privacy – Can names be posted? How will you get permission for photos? At our school, we ask parents to complete a photo permission form annually, and we never use more than a child's first name.
- Responsibility – Who decides what is okay and not to put on the site? Do postings need to be approved by an administrator? This is a critical discussion to have with stakeholders, including teachers, parents, and administrators, and possibly students as well.
- Teams & Timelines – Who is responsible for getting content in on time? How will you collect articles and photos? This is where it's important to not promise more than you can deliver!
