Tools for Building a School Web Site - Leveraging Time, Money & Skills
Whether you’re a novice with no time or money, a pro web designer, or (most likely) somewhere in between, you can build a school web site. The key is to choose the right tools for your needs:
- Online Services such as .Mac, TeacherWeb and more let you quickly build a web site, and host the web site for you, for free or through subscriptions. The design is provided for you through ready-made templates. You fill in the content and go. Great for anyone low on time or skills, but you have limited flexibility.
- Web design template tools let you create the content using templates that you fill in. More flexibility and works well if you already have a host server.
- Web Design Software like DreamWeaver and Adobe GoLive, give total control over your web site, but have a steeper learning curve. Building a site this way takes more time, organization and skill, but the results will be totally your own.
- Blogs & Other Hip Tools! Newer to the scene, these services let you choose a template and create quick, easily modified pages. Your site will tire quickly, though, if you don't keep it up to date!
