Web Lesson 6

The first web lesson of the water unit focuses on the chemical and physical properties of water. To complete this activity, follow the directions below and submit your answers on paper in your folder. (Note: Internet Explorer seems to work better with the linked pages than Netscape.)

Go to Challenge Question # 3 and do your best to answer the questions.

Choose three questions you're interested in and read the explanations provided.

1. List the question numbers you read about and summarize in your own words the answer they provided.

Go to Physical Properties of Water and answer the following:

2. Describe the structure of a single water molecule.

3. What properties does water have as a result of it's molecular structure?

4. Describe how water as a solid (ice) can be less dense than liquid water.

5. How does the fact that water has a high specific heat influence the climate along the Pacific Northwest coast?
