Web Lesson #5

This homework assignment has 2 parts. Be sure to complete both by Friday at 4! Submit both parts in your folder on paper we provide. You may choose to use the back side of the paper provided for the web lesson.

Part One:

In this part you will produce an illustrated food web that highlights the relationship between salmon and their predators and prey. You will also answer a few questions regarding salmon's place in the ecosystem. Use your own paper to create the food web and include the following elements:

  • salmon,
  • 3 predators (what eats them),
  • 2 freshwater and 2 salt water prey species (what salmon eat),
  • 1 decomposer (break down dead organisms).
  • at least one producer (can be algae in the stream which salmon fry eat)
  • indicate trophic levels for each organism

Use color, labels, and draw arrows to indicate feeding relationships (arrows go from the organism to the organism that eats it). Use a search engine to find the information necessary to complete this activity. Here's a starting place: Alta Vista (search for "salmon predators", "salmon prey").
