Web Lesson #4

In this activity you will investigate the life cycle of a salmon species that is native to the Pacific Northwest. Your assignment is to turn in an illustrated life cycle of the salmon that has both visual and written components.

Here's what you will need:

  • One sheet of 8.5 X 11'' paper
  • Colored pencils
  • Information on the life cycle of salmon

Here's what to do:

  • Use the information from the salmon book available for loan in the classroom (pages 32-33) or the links below to find out about the stages in the life cycle of a species of salmon.
  • Using the 11 x 17" paper provided, create a colored, illustrated life cycle of salmon. You should have drawings of each major stage in the salmon's life cycle and brief written descriptions of each stage.
  • Include the names and a description of at least 6 stages in the life of a Pacific Salmon.

You're grade will be determined by assessing the following components:

  • Accuracy of written and illustrated information (you won't be marked off for artistic ability, or lack of)
  • Neatness and creativity
