Web Lesson 6

Activity 1: In this activity you are to put yourself into the persona of a Native American living along the Lower Columbia River. You will, in a sense, be a time-traveler as you examine what the life of a Native American fisherman might have been like in the 1700's, the mid 1800's, and finally today. Your assignment is to check out the sites linked below (and others you might discover on your own) and create a journal entry from the perspective of a Native American fisherman for each of the 3 different time periods. The entries need only be a couple paragraphs each but they must reflect what daily life could have been like for people who subsisted on fish from the river. Try to put yourself in their shoes and write your entries as realistically as possible. Submit the completed assignment on paper on your folder or email it to Helen (haberman@4j.lane.edu) and Tim (whitley@4j.lane.edu).
