Botany Lesson Two
Due Thursday, November 6

In this activity you will explore the importance and history of some common plants used in modern life.

Name _______________________

Global trade and travel are recent buzzwords, but they are nothing new. People have always been on the move. The thing that has changed is the speed and scope of the movements. As people traveled to new places, they took with them the plants they depended on for survival (food, medicine, fuel, clothing and shelter).

Assignment:
Your task in this assignment is to research one plant or plant product you commonly use and find out as much as possible of the following:

• Country of origin
• Origin or meaning of the plant name
• Earliest recorded use
• How it got to the Americas
• 2 interesting facts about the plant
