 Quadball
QuadBall is based upon that "Slanted Rim" theory developed by the late Dr. Muska Mosston and incorporates everything Muska believed that physical education should and could be. It's designed to be an environment of "inclusion," where every child has an opportunity for skill development through experimentation.
MOSSTON QuadBall™
Four colors, Four goal sizes, Four basketballs
  • The four goals range in 2" increments from 18" to 24";
  • Four basketballs ranging in size from mini to regulation
  • Four shooting lines ranging in 5' increments from 5' to 20'
  • Everything is color coded (red, yellow, blue and green)
  • Red is the most challenging (red-netted 18" goal, red regulation basketball, red 20' shooting line)
  • Green will be the easiest with (green-netted 24" goal, green mini basketball, green 5' shooting line).

       Variable Post Height:
The design of the Big Red Base’s tall post allows the teacher to adjust the height of the goal platform from approximately 155 cm to 244 cm. Because of the unit’s weight, height adjustment should always be made by an adult.

    Line Distances:
There are no hard and fast rules for the placement of the Shooting Lines, in fact the distances can be varied on all four sides. One suggested setup below:

    • Red 51 cm
    • Yellow 38 cm
    • Blue 25 cm
    • Green 13 cm

    Shooting: B.E.E.F.

  • Balance the ball on your shooting hand
  • Elbow stays directly under the ball and over your knee
  • Eye on the target (the front of rim)
  • Follow through snapping the wrist high over your head

   Passing: Chest Pass

  • Hold ball close to chest
  • One foot slightly in front of the other
  • Hands on sides of ball
  • Thumbs facing up Palms not touching ball
  • Step towards target
  • Thrust arms forward, snap wrists, release ball
  • Follow through with thumbs pointing to the floor, fingers pointing towards target
   Relay Activity: Dribble Train
  • Each group lines up in a line with a ball to dribble
  • The leader of the team communicates the speed and direction of the train. If anyone in the train loses their ball, they must go to the caboose.
  • One train cannot cross in the middle of another train.

Relays:

  • Shuttle Relay Dribble -Dribble to other half of line - bounce pass - then, go to the end of the line
  • Dribble and try 2 shots to make a basket then dribble and pass to the next person on the team
  • Shuttle Hoop Dribble Relay - Color teams are lined up with 3 hoops with 3 balls in them lying in front of each team. Players dribble down and replace each ball in the hoop, then dribble to the next one.
