Parachute Games

OceanWaves:                                                                          

• Students hold onto the parachute with a two-hand grip that corresponds to the same color as their color team. Shake the chute up and down to create ocean waves. Popcorn - Throw out beach ball, tennis balls, rubber chicken and rope (snake) and have the students shake the chute, popping them up in the air.

• Students move in same direction with left hand holding chute, when music stops - do the dead bug and kick the chute.

Color Team Chase

• Students grip the parachute and shake in "ocean wave" style. When your color team is called, run around the outiside and back to your original spot while trying to pass others.

Color Team Exchange

• Students hold onto the parachute with a two-hand grip that corresponds to the same color as their color team. Hold the chute up shoulder high, run underneath the chute and exchange spots with when your color team is called.

Mushroom                                                                                     

• Shoetops, lift, pull back, walk forward, raise chuteIgloo - Shoetops, Lift up, pull back, step forward, sit inside of chute, scoot forward to raise roof

Space Ship     

• Shoetops, Lift up, pull back, on signal let go of parachute at the same time

    Shark Attack  

• Students sit with legs straight underneath the parachute.
• Shake the parachute in "ocean wave" fashion
• Choose one color team to be the sharks - they will attempt to pull students on the outside under the chute.
• Choose another team to be the lifeguards - they will attempt to save those being pulled under by the sharks.
• If a students is pulled under by a shark, they should replace the person on the outside of the parachute.
• Players change roles and the game continues on.

Mousetrap

• One color team goes under the chute as the mice
• The teacher calls out - 1,2,3 trap
• Students who are holding the chute immediately pull it down and seal the edges to catch the mice

Cat and Mice

• One color team goes under the chute as the mice
• The teacher calls out - 1,2,3 trap - Raise up the chute as high as possible, then pull down.
• Students on the ouside crawl on top and through the bubble and tag the mice that have not escaped.
• Variation: Cats wear blinders and try to tag the mice who are underneath the chute.

Air Conditioner

• One color team goes under the chute and lays down face up
• The rest of the class shakes the chute up and down to cool them off
• Rotate color teams in and out.

Parachute Volleyball

• Divide the class in half down the middle
• Put ball in the middle and teams try to knock the ball over the heads of the other team.
