Butterfly Release Day

The first grade raised raised butterflies from baby caterpillars. We watched them eat the mallow plant, grow more than a thousand times it’s original size from 1/4 inch to 2 inches , fill it’s container with frass, turn into a j-shape caterpillar, chrysalis and finally a butterfly. 26 days after they arrived, we let them go.
