Energy appears everywhere. The basic “stuff” of the universe, according to many scientists, is simply energy.
Day 1 (Mon Nov 30)
-Go over Momentum & Impulse Quiz
-Read text Chapter 8.1-8.4
-HW pg 119 #1-9, p.120 #21-24
Day 2 (Tues Dec 1)
-Go over HW
-Energy Questions (6 questions on a half sheet)
-Pairs answered conceptual questions Ch 8 (first 13 Qs)
-Bowling Ball Activity & questions
-HW: bowling ball Qs & Read 8.6, answer Qs p 120 #25-30.
Day 3 (Weds Dec 2)
-Go over HW
-Work some conservation of energy questions
-Work some sample power questions
-Go outside or auxiliary gym, gather stair-climbing data for Your Power Lab.
Day 4 (Thurs Dec 3)
-SPLAT reminders
-One last WPP and one Newton’s Laws presentation
-Get your mass, finish calculations on Your Power Lab
-Work & Power Concept Qs
-Example of energy conservation
-Work & Power numerical Qs
Day 5 (Fri Dec 4)
-Went over Work & Power HW (half sheet problems)
-Students answered questions p.120 questions #31-38
-Watched two Splat Videos to generate ideas for project design: YouTube - How do you keep an egg from breaking?.webloc AND YouTube - Egg Drop - Make- Video Podcast.webloc
-Students worked on their device designs.
Day 6 (Mon Dec 7)
-SPLAT! competetion/encouragement/ideas
-SPLAT! calculations (went through all calculations due)
-KE & PE questions (“Digger the Dog” worksheet)
-Time to work on SPLAT!
Day 7 (Tues Dec 8)
-SPLAT! device description example.
-Students took Work, Energy & Power Practice Test, then discussed solutions.
Day 8 (Weds Dec 9)
-Kinematics EC presentation: Ryan Blain
-Reading: next unit
-Reminder: formula sheet / post-it
-SPLAT! write-up time.
Day 9 (Thurs Dec 10)
-SPLAT! Qualification: Weight, Length and Volume msmts.
-SPLAT! activity in Auxiliary Gym!
-Students began SPLAT writeup.
Day 10 (Fri Dec 11) - half day/progress rpts
-Turn in SPLAT! write-up.
-Work, Energy & Power Test.
