Everything you see on this page is based on Adobe CS5. We have now upgraded to Adobe CC which inherently looks different and works differently. The general concepts and tools are the same but you're simply going to need to "figure it out." |
Introduction To Photoshop
Intro to Photoshop |
I purchased this dvd because these people do a much better job than I do teaching the basic functions of Photoshop. Sometimes we'll access videos from this resource. They live in the "Class Resources>Graphic Design 1 Videos" folder on the desktop. That's it. Anytime that you see the blue text (CS5 DVD - Blah Blah Blah) during the following units, you'll use these videos instead of my videos. Now, you'll need to prove that you've read this section and understand the whole "dvd-but-not-a-dvd" concept. Find these videos and point them out to Mr. Eagen to get a stamp sheet and a stamp of completion. |

Unit 6 - Making Selections
Unit 6 Tutorial Unit 6 Assignment - example NOTE 1: "Refine Edge" is now called "Select and Mask" in CC. It's in the same place but they've renamed it since the video was created. NOTE 2: I'm adding something to this guy's tutorial. Select the sky on the balloons and drastically alter the color of the sky (pinks, purples, etc.) with Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation. Move the "hue" slider to change the sky's color significantly. This way, it will be clear that you know how to select the sky and alter colors like you did on previous activities. Also, make sure that the girl/dog is overlapping the balloon so that we can see that you selected the flowing hair of the lady. Show it to Mr. Eagen for credit. |

Unit 7 - Selections | |
Unit 7 Tutorials Unit 7 Assignment - instructions - example - student example 1 - student example 2 Make your own creative composite image. Download several photos from the internet (minimum of 2000px...the bigger the better). One should be a main subject (person's face, dog, bottle of maple syrup, etc.) and the others should be some sort of background (Autzen stadium, golf course, stampeding dachshunds, etc.) and foreground elements (falling leaves, grass, snow flakes, fog, etc.). Use selections tools and techniques to combine the images. BE SURE TO USE THE "REFINE EDGE" TOOL! Make it layer on layer on layer (multiple overlapping elements) like the Bieber example, but don't copy the Bieber example! The Bieber file is included as a reference so that you can see how it was done. Show your multi-layered composition to Mr. Eagen for credit. |

If/when you get to this point then you can browse through these tutorials and find one or two that interest you. You may or may not have already learned some of the techniques or tools that they cover, but if you're at this point then you're likely able to follow along and figure it out. I don't have the exact images that are used in the tutorials. So, just download high resolution image from the intergoogles. Remember how?
Or....I've got a couple hundred of these tutorials in a binder. You are welcome to look through it and find one that you'd like to do. Or...are you feeling saucy? How about taking your best shot at your teacher? |
