Room 15 Homework...
Spelling
-Students will bring home their spelling packet on Monday, and it is due on Friday. This is the schedule I would like them to follow throughout the week:
Monday: Worksheets
Tuesday: Re-Write the spelling list in alphabetical order
Wednesday: Write a complete sentence for each word
Thursday: Write each word 5 times
*For Tuesday-Thursday there is a spelling options sheet attached to their homework folder. If students would like to choose an activity off of the list of options they may do this instead of the above homework.
Spelling Options:
1. write your words in reverse ABC order
2.write your words 3x each in cursive
3.write your words 3x in different colors
4.write a story using at least 10 of your spelling words
5.write newspaper headlines using your spelling words
6.make a word search with all of your words
7.write a poem using half of the words
8.write your words in a secret code (include code legend)
9.make a set of flashcards
10. write a scrambled word puzzle and give a list of answers
11. write your words using one color for vowels and one for consonants
12. draw a picture of each spelling word
13. write each word is special letters (squiggly, block, etc.)
14. write a song using all of your spelling words
15. write a letter to a friend using all of your spelling words
16. write the words backwards and forwards
17. write a rhyming word for each spelling word
18. design a bookmark and write your list of words on the bookmark
Math Facts
The only regular math homework will be memorizing multiplication and division math facts. Students should practice their math facts about 10 minutes per night. This can be done with flashcards, worksheets, charts or practicing out loud.
Reading Log
Students need to be reading every school night at home (and on weekends if possible)!! Students need to read for at least 25 minutes every night, and they need your signature on the weekly report/reading log form each week..
