Homework Policy

In 4th and 5th grade students transition towards being more independent and responsible with their homework. Each week they will fill out their planner which will have their homework listed in it, as well as any class activities or reminders for parents.
Math homework in 4th grade will be assigned weekly and will come home Monday in a small packet. They will be due on Friday. Math homework pages will be noted both on the classroom white board and on the classroom planner. It is the student’s responsibility to write these assignments down and complete them during the course of that week. 5th grade math students should refer to their teacher’s website for their specific math homework policy.
Finally, reading 20 minutes a night is a daily requirement. Reading can be done in small chunks and can be any reading material that your child is interested in (although we encourage a variety of genres). We are always trying to foster a love of reading!
Math homework will be checked in weekly on Friday. If homework is left at home, or unfinished, students will be required to finish it during morning work, snack, and/or morning recess.
