Field Events
Shuttle Relay:
Use batons to pass on designated Grade/Gender Teams
- Red 4th boys, Blue 4th
girls, Yellow 5th boys, Green 5th girls
- First person on team
stands on middle gym line to receive baton, then run to opposite wall
- Starting with the second
person, the team lines up
- On signal the second
person on each team starts the race and hands the baton to their teammate
standing on the center line
- The person receiving
the handoff runs to the wall, touches the wall and returns the baton to
the next person in line (Run past the person in the middle this time)
- The next person in line
runs and this time they pass the baton to their teammate in the middle,
then wait there for the baton to be passed to them
- Middle person runs to
opposite wall and returns the baton to the next person in line
- Continue for four minutes
- How many laps can your team do?
Sprint Start :
- On your Marks - Place
thumb and forefingers on the line - Raise fingers
- Get Set -Right handed
students put left foot forward, right foot back
- Raise front leg to 90
degrees
- Go - Drive arms - push
from legs
High Jump - Jump:

Practice jumping and
landing on back

Line up in front of high
jump mats
-
Stand with heels a foot
or so away

One by one students jump
onto mats landing on the mid to upper back (dead bug position)

Don't look back when
jumping - watch hands and feet

Jump and Clear:
-
Place the "crossbar"
or equivalent at the same height as the top of the mats
Line up in front of high
jump mats

Stand with heels a foot
or so away

One by one students jump
onto mats landing on the mid to upper back (dead bug position)

Don't look back when jumping
- watch hands and feet

Chose Take Off Foot -Then
Jump without crossbar:
-
Almost all right handed
students will take off from the left foot

Right handed - Line -up
on right side
-
Vice versa for left-handed
-
Place three pieces of tape
four feet apart leading to the mats
- One by one students
lined up on the right side stride forward
Shot Put:
- Place outside of left
foot (right handers) against the toe board in front
- The right foot is near
the middle of the ring
- Turn shoulders toward
the back of the ring
- Bend at the waist
- Rise, turn and release
while driving off of the right foot
- Hold the shot in a
cradled (not gripped) position
- Hold the ball at the
base of the four fingers
- Hold under the chin
with the elbow up and behind the shoulder
- Propel forward with
a pushing motion (not throwing)
