We will have check point due dates along the way. Please note that steps #5 and #8 will require that you set up a personal email account if you do not already have one . This can readily be done through school computers; let your Projects teacher know if you need any help with this. Here is an overview of the steps you will take to complete the Project:
- Brainstorm a list of possible “Great Minds” – who they are and why they interest you
- Choose the one you will research in depth, with input from your Projects teacher
- Assemble your information sources, including at least one book-length source written by or about your “Great Mind”
- Complete your research and reading, including your book-length source
- Email you thesis statement to your Projects teacher (concurrent with the reading and research phase)
- Develop a detailed plan or outline for your research paper
- Write a careful and complete first draft of your paper
- Submit your paper to turnitin.com, an on-line service that allows your Projects teacher to give focused guidance about how to cite information sources properly (upon completion of step 7)
- Write your revised final paper
- Prepare an appropriate costume and a name placard for your “Great Mind”; choose a representative artifact; prepare an introductory speech for your “Great Mind”
Then, we'll see “you” at the Meeting of Great Minds!
