Eurasian Conference 2009

2009 Eurasian Conference

Eugene International High School
North International High School

We would like to thank the Eugene Education Fund for its support of the Eurasian Conference.

DESCRIPTION: During the third and fourth quarters of this year your Global History teacher will command projects. However, you will turn your work into your projects teacher. The project this semester has three main components:

  • Individual research on an assigned nation, research on events of global significance, meeting with other members of your assigned nation, and the formation of policy relating to global issues.
  • Participation in the Eurasian Conference (held at the Wheeler Pavilion on the Lane County Fairgrounds on Friday, May 15th from 8:00 A.M.-3:15 P.M.)
  • Written reflections of the conference and self-evaluations which are due after the conference.
RATIONALE:   The preparation for (and participation in) the Eurasian Conference offers the possibility for increasing your understanding of the complexity of global issues that are relevant to all nations today.  Preparation for the conference will require you to do research, communicate with others, exercise diplomacy, and begin to understand the intricacies of geo-political decision making.
