Background

I have had an aptitude for Mathematics since High School, and I began attending Lane Community College in 1988 for the purpose of getting a degree in Accounting. During the pursuit of this degree I developed an interest in Computer Science and the ways in which computer technology can enrich our lives. I earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Microcomputer Programming in 1997. I went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Oregon in 2000.

During the pursuit of my Bachelors degree, I also began teaching Computer and Information Science and Applications courses at the University of Oregon and Mt. Hood Community College in Portland, Oregon. I quickly discovered that I also have a love for teaching. I completed the Middle/Secondary Teaching Licensure program at the University of Oregon. In 2002, I earned my Masters of Education degree from the University of Oregon. I began teaching Mathematics at Churchill High School in 2001.

Current Activites and Interests

I am interested in the applications of computer technology in the classroom, and am working on several projects toward that end.

I am fascinated by current research and development into models of learning and development, and the ways in which new models can be used by educators, both to improve our understanding of differences in learning, and to meet the diverse learning needs of students. I am particularly interested in the work of Dr. Mel Levine and the All Kinds of Minds non-profit organization.
