Greetings Parents!
- Last and final week for state tests! HOOORAY! Kids are finishing
up the 2nd round of Math tests. A few students who have yet to pass
either the Reading or Math will have a third opportunity to pass.
- This Friday is the last day to check out books from the
library. Please look around for any overdue books that might be at home.
- The Gilham Bike Rodeo is this Friday, May 23. Kids
are encouraged to ride or bring a bike & helmet (that fits them
properly) to go through our school bike safety course. They should
probably have a lock & know
how to use it. Third graders will park their bikes by the library
and go through the course at 1:15 - 1:45. Those who don't ride will
help with various traffic "jobs". You are welcome
to join us & help monitor.
- Science: It's time to start building ROCKETS this Friday! We
will build them next week (May 27 & 29) and then the following Wednesday,
we'll paint them. The rocket launch will be Friday, June 6th at 12:45
- 1:45. We need 6 volunteers on Wednesday, June 4 from 10:30
- 12:00 to help kids spray paint their rockets. Please email
me or let Trista Neuman know if you can help with this task. We have
the spray paint; however, gold, silver & neon orange are in short
supply, if you have a leftover can of this, we could help you out
with that! We also need one parent on our launch day (June
4) to help get the rockets on the launcher. Let me or Trista know
if you're interested.
- Gilham Third Grade Wax Museum is less than two weeks away! It's
next Thursday, May 29th. Kids should bring their hero book to read
in class each day this week; they should also be reading about their
hero at home. They can use the internet
resources on our website
or have another book or bring their main book back & forth to
school each day. There is a Hero
Speech planner on our Heroes Project
link.....Students will practice their speeches in class next week
on Tues., Wed., and Thursday. We will need to know about any costume
or prop needs by Tuesday, May 27. I will put photos from a previous
wax museum for ideas on our class photo album page to give you some
ideas. The timeline and other details about the Hero project is on
our class website under the "Heroes
Project" link.
