Greetings Parents!

  • Monday (today) is "Read Across America" Day in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday. I beckon you to take the pledge below!

  • This Friday, March 7, is an early release day. School will be out at 11:30.

  • Carnival Auction- Call for Class Art Project Ideas: May 2 is the date for this year's banner event! Each class creates some THING creative which can be auctioned at Carnival Night - our annual FUNdraiser. I'm betting (hoping) that one of you has this year's hot art / craft idea for our class. Think about it. If you have a great idea & can help our class create something wonderful, let Trista Neuman, Kelli Caniano, or me know. Even though it's two months away, I don't want to wait until the last minute.

  • New Math Unit: Comparing & Combining ("CC" in the gradebook) where they will be learning different ways to solve addition & subtraction problems based on their understanding of numbers. They'll be combining (adding) and comparing (subtracting), taking numbers apart & putting them together in meaningful ways. One of their first assignments will be to collect data about the age of the pets you have or have had. I will be teaching them how to use a number line as well as the standard algorithm for adding and subtracting large numbers (carrying & regrouping). You & your family will get to play a number of rounds of a fun game called "Close to 100". It's a good strategy game and provides practice in adding larger numbers to 100. Those who need an extra challenge will play a variation of the game which uses negative numbers.

  • Zoo Fund: I am accepting contributions of $1 (or more) to help cover additional bus-related expenses.
