Greetings Parents!

Report Card Envelopes are coming home today with your child. Please review the contents, sign the envelope; you may keep all report card and all the inserts. We'll reuse the envelope in the spring. Also, your signature on the envelope lets me know the report card made it to you. Let me know if we need to send a duplicate to another address.

Reading: We will be doing some review of our past month's reading skills & taking a big unit review test on Friday. There will be no new spelling words this week; there will be some spelling words from previous tests on the unit test.

Math: We will be finishing our Math unit on Flips, Turns, and Area. We'll begin a new Math unit called, "Landmarks" (gradebook code: LM). I'll send a letter describing this important unit in more detail.

• Valentine's Day - We will have a class party Thursday during the last hour of the day. (1:00 - 2:00). Students received a class list in their Friday Envelope last week to use if they are going to make Valentines Day cards. If you make any cards, please make them for everybody in our class. If they want to make cards for a few friends in other classes, that's fine. Messages should be friendly. Some people like to attach something special to their valentines - keep in mind we have a "no-sugar" policy. We brainstormed in class some alternatives: stickers, sugar-free gum, fruit-sweetened gummy bears, sugar-free lifesavers. Of course, a simple Valentines Day card is fine. Each year, I have had kids design their own Valentines Day containers / envelopes / boxes at home and bring them to school on Thursday. That opens the door for all kinds of creativity! It also means we don't lose even more class time for those who choose not to observe Valentines Day. The school day will be "as usual" during the rest of the day.

Review previous assignment sheets or spelling rules we've learned .
