April 23, 2012

Dear Special Adults of First Grade,

It has been a very busy April!  We wrapped up our clay projects with Mr. Alex, started rock climbing, had special Earth Day events all day last Wednesday, had the Eugene Concert Choir visit, then started music again with a new teacher Mrs. Leonard.  We also began another session of Full Moon Rising and the last PACK session, and will soon be starting the School Garden Project again.  This is all between the normal reading, math, drawing and such that we do regularly.  PHEW!

With all the activities, it slipped my attention that we are out of snack for the students.  Please donate any healthy snacks that you can to our classroom.

We are having a HOMEWORK INCENTIVE FIELD TRIP.  The students that turn in their homework on a regular basis along with recording their reading will be invited to attend a trip to Skate World.  If you need a new reading log or extra copies of homework for kids who live in two homes, let me know.  It’s a fresh start from this point!

This Friday, April 27th, at 9:30am and 6:00pm is our school Talent Show.  For the evening performance, not only will you be able to see students on stage, but it will also be an Art Showcase.  We will be displaying a selection of drawings done in class with Mr. Isaac and all of the clay work done with Mr. Alex.  There will also be a few items to purchase, flowers for the performers, track gear, student-made seed paper and maybe more!  Please come and be a support to your students and their classmates.  If you are interested in helping to set-up for the event, please let me know.

Have a wonderful week and help your student get that homework in!
