Welcome to Haugen's Tech Tips Pages!my other hat

Here you'll find resources for making the most effective use of technology in educational settings, with a focus on project-based, inclusive learning activities, using readily available and affordable tools along with the best of universally designed tools and software.

Best Web Sites for Math - Using the web to explore and practice math concepts, create hands-on materials and manipulatives, and find lessons tied to NCTM standards

Best Web Sites for Literacy Learning! - Using the web with kids to enhance literacy in all its forms: reading, writing, working with words, organizing, sharing and responding to what we read and write.

My Afterschool Publishing Program - I created an afterschool multimedia publishing program to fend off my growing sense that schools have become overly and obsessively focused on standars - getting all the kids to do the same things in the same ways at the same rate. Ugh! In my program, kids learn to take responsibility for their talents and strengths by exploring, stretching and sharing what they're passionate about or what comes easily. They also learn to take responsibility for things they struggle with, by pushing their limits, learning alternative strategies, and seeking out expert helpers among their peers. In this way, in the words of Ross Greene, 'everyone does their best and everyone gets what they need,' AND our school community gets a wonderfully creative and exuberant publication every eight weeks or so!
