In July of 1999, 16 educators from Eugene, Oregon, USA, left
for a 28 day Fulbright Study Tour of Thailand and Cambodia,
with the emphasis on Cambodia. The purpose of the Fulbright
Group Projects Abroad Programs is to foster relationships between
Americans and people of other countries.
The study tour grant was written by Dr. Gerry Fry, a professor
at the Center
for Asian and Pacific Studies at the University
of Oregon. In addition to Gerry, the tour included other
UO staff members from various departments: History, Political
Science, Public Policy and Management, Business, Theater, and
International Studies. The group also included an undergraduate
and a graduate student at UO. The remaining members of the study
group were educators from the Eugene area, from elementary through
middle and high school levels.
