It is the goal of this class to teach you a variety of workplace technical writing skills. Technical writing is used in businesses and organizations. Technical writing is a specialty that requires a working knowledge of the technical subject matter and terminology. It also includes the ability to make observations and write clearly about what was observed. Most technical writing is prepared by professionals in a technical field who are writing about their own work. The writing may be for employees, customers or others outside of the organization. Clarity is the number one characteristic of good technical writing. A technical writer has valuable skills. They can write a letter, prepare a brochure or compose a report that is clear, concise, well organized and uses proper grammar, while at the same time address the audience for which it is intended. Technical writing must be understood by the people who read manuals, directions, letters, specifications, brochures, etc. Your goal as a technical writer will be to convey your intended message to your readers. |
