B5 is a busy place! In language arts will use the Treasures curriculum and chapter books to build our reading skills and strategies. In math we are using the Investigations math program to practice multiplication, division, subtraction, addition, fractions, decimals, and geometry. We will also focus on math problem solving. In science we will study motion and design, as well as Ecosystems. In Social Studies we will travel across the Oregon Trail! We will also focus on the Civil Rights movement, slavery, and people in history that made a difference. Fourth grade is a big year for writing. We will spend significant time practicing the following modes: argumentative, narrative, persuasive,  expository, and imaginative.

Our class will learn to use a great deal of technology this year. Each student will have their own server where they will store their projects. Programs we will use to create content are imovie, Keynote, Inspiration, Voicethread, Pages, Garageband, Wordle, Storybird, Comic Life, and iphoto.

This is going to be a wonderful and exciting year!
